I have been thinking a lot about the words I say, about how one word can change someone’s life, how we say things almost with out thinking the kick-back those words could have. My blog title is “a word fitly spoken” from Proverbs 25:11. this book talks a lot about actions and their consequences, and even a lot about words. As I look at my dad, when he is talking with someone he will hear what they have to say before he ever speaks, then all he may say is one sentence and his words mean so much that they answer the whole matter right then and there. I wish I had this wisdom the hurt I cause with my words would be much less. But that wisdom rarely comes without age.
I will think about this more maybe this will give us all something to think and pray about.

You are still alive!!! I’m so happy! I thought you were gone for good! ^_^ now I’ll be serious. What you say is true.. mostly. Sometimes you can acquire great wisdom without age. It’s through something called experience and guidance. A lot of.. interesting… things have happened to me that have really opened my eyes. The experiences I have had have given me wisdom. Also, when I have tough choices to make, the guidance that my mom and dad give me also gives me wisdom.
Andrew addressed this very topic once in a series of post on, “Lung Fu”. See: http://www.godzscout.net/archives/000186.php and http://www.godzscout.net/archives/000181.php
I think he wrote a longer version of it somewhere. If I find it, I’ll post it here for you.
Well said Jon, Proverbs has alot to say about the tongue and how it can hurt when improperly used, also sometimes its better just to say nothing at all. I have a friend that is very good at telling me just what needs to be said…….even if I don’t like it.
So very, very true. Notice again, the Bible is always saying things the best.
Thanks for reminding us about this. It’s really easy to say lots of words and not really say anything valuable; on the other hand some of the most valuable things that have been said to me have been simple comments at the right time. THey may be simple but they are the right words at the right time.
